Spanish artist Belin works on canvas, paper, and the walls of urban environments. His city-based street art combines photorealism with caricature art. The result is that Belin’s street art murals are a funny reflection of real people. Some of his graffiti characters are involved in real-world situations such as posing for a picture at a party; but often, Belin places his painted people into bizarre, humorous and surreal situations.

Belin’s style can be called pop surrealism; a name given to a modern art movement that expresses popular culture and modern art styles in a surrealist manner. Like every surrealist artist before him, Belin’s art questions the reality that we perceive around us, while offering an alternative, imaginative reality to ponder on. The world that he presents to us through his graffiti is a humorous parody of our own world. Perhaps the message is that in a parallel world, we appreciate the funny aspects of life far more than people generally do in our dimension.

Belin street art works are created primarily in spray paint. The fine mist of aerosol paint allows him to create the smooth gradients and soft shades that are required to paint a photorealistic mural. Check out more street art and fine art paintings by Belin on his website.
