Five talented Canadian street artists used 500 cans of spray paint over 16 days to create a large-scale wall mural of the Madonna. They drew inspiration for the style of the piece from the works of\u00a0Czech Art Nouveau painter Alphonse Mucha, and incorporated symbols of Montreal’s history into the mural. One of these symbols is the gourd fruit seen at the base of the painting, in the form of pumpkins and squash. The artists chose these food sources to symbolise the fact that the area used to be farmland; an area in which farmers once grew these foods.<\/p>\n

This time-lapse graffiti video shows how the artists from AShop used spray paint and rollers while standing on hydraulic lifts to paint this enormously beautiful wall mural.
